Fished the berry from 6:30 to 1:00. Ended up with 15 fish with most of them at 20", the smallest was 17". I was fishing in 40' of water with most of the fish caught between 10' and 30'. Most of the fish were caught on a glow jig tipped with a meal worm. The ice was 16" thick where I was at.

I, three other adults, along with six 16 yr olds tried East of the ladders in 15'-38' from 7:30-1:00 and only iced about 7 between all of us. Very slow day for us, didn't mark many on the finder.

I also was there. Stayed at the lodge the night before to get an early start. Had ten by 0700 all in the slot. Then the mad rush of every Tom, Dick, and Harry shut the bit off. Stayed until 4pm and iced only four more. It was still a good day to be at the Berry, but did not care for the "W".

We (cousin and I ) were also there today. 6:30 till about noon. We had our best ice fishing day in a long time with 22 on the ice, and 2 of those over the slot, and a LOT of swings-and-misses!
We were discouraged at first as we didn't see any fish on the finder but we found out (after about 30 seconds) that the fish were on the bottom and didn't show up on the finder where we were. We missed more than we caught!

I see a number of differing reports of fishing, but only one said what part of the lake you were on.

I REALLY need to get out there. I posted last week that I was going on Friday, but I was going with my dad and he got a bad fever the night before, so the trip was cancelled that early morning. Still over 2 years since I've been on the ice. Hopefully this weekend.......

I was at the first turnout past the ladders. I walked out on the lake about 1/2-3/4 of a mile from the shore to get away from everyone else.

We had the same thing happen at Mosquito Bay. We drilled about 7 holes trying to find fish on my new Eagle 502C and got discouraged by not seeing anything. Finally, we just picked a hole over about 35 feet of water and started jigging. The fish would come out of no where right off the bottom and from above. You could not see the fish when they were hugging the bottom. I just love to see the the lines on the finder when a fish zooms from above or below to check out the jig. I got a huge kick out of that!
Thanks to TubeDude for telling me not to buy the new fishin buddy 4200 and to buy a real fish finder. This Eagle color screen is fabulous. With this new unit it is like you can see under water. You could tell exactly when a fish was looking at our lures and you could get ready for the hit. Thanks

I love the color fishfinders! Mine is the Lowrance M68c and I agree, it makes it really easy to see fish coming from above or below to check out your jigs. It does look like the fish come out of nowhere when they come up from the bottom!
I also like it when you are sitting there and suddenly you mark a fish at about 20 feet or so and you can reel up to it and get it!
I don't know if I would ice fish without a fishfinder!

I am with you, I will never go anywhere without it now. We had a couple of fish appear at different levels and would reel up or down to them. It was a real rush to hook em. Sometimes, I would rip my lure through the water and fish would come from no where to see what the fuss was. It is amazing how fish know exactly what is around them and they come to check it out.
I can't wait to get it rigged up on my toon boat after ice off.

[#0000ff]Give me a shout when you get ready to trick out the toon. You can bring it over to my tubeatorium (garage) and we can GIT 'ER DONE.[/#0000ff]
