[size 1]Dania Beach, Florida -- The IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame & Museum (IGFA) announced today that a Rapala Lure Exhibition will open on February 10, 2007. Rapala lures have been used for 269 IGFA records caught around the world.

'Created by a fisherman, Rapala lures have been a mainstay of our sport for nearly 70 years,' said Chris Hess, director of IGFA's museum. 'We are excited to showcase this historic company and its products.'

Established in 1939, IGFA maintains and publishes world records for saltwater, freshwater and fly fishing catches, as well as U.S. state freshwater records and junior angler records. IGFA awards certificates of recognition to each record holder.

'We are extremely honored by this recognition from IGFA,' said Tom Mackin, president of Rapala USA. 'We are always excited when our lures land a record and it's a privilege to be featured in the IGFA museum.'

IGFA will hold a museum open house and a junior angler fishing clinic at the IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum during the opening of the Rapala gallery. The public is invited free to the all-day event and the premier of the Rapala Lure Exhibition, which will showcase the historic company and its products for three months. Doors open at 10 a.m. and close at 6 p.m.

The IGFA Fishing Hall of Fame and Museum provides the world's most comprehensive assemblage of sportfishing information, exhibits, educational classes, fishing demonstrations, interactive displays and virtual reality fishing.

The IGFA's 60,000-square-foot museum entrance creates an atmosphere that makes visitors feel seemingly immersed in an underwater world filled with fish. There are 170 species of world record game fish suspended overhead with information plates providing date of catch, angler and location.
