I've seen a few posts about bad service at Cabela's, so I thought I'd chime in with a good one. I don't live there (but I could [angelic]), but I go a few times a year.

Thu night (8th), I hopped up there from Orem to buy a fishfinder mount for my float tube. I checked the tube accessories area, the fly fishing area, and the marine area, not finding anything. And being a Real Man I didn't want to ask for help [Tongue].

A sales guy (Brandon) must have seen the "lost" look in my eyes (so much for the poker face), and asked me if I was finding everything. I said no and produced a printed description from their website of my quarry. He got on the 'puter and said they had five in the store. Then the rabbit hunt began. We looked in fly fishing, tube accessories, marine, bargain hut, etc. He got the help of two other associates. We finally found it in marine in an obscure place. They were very helpful, and though it was near closing time, they acted as though they were willing to stay their all night to help me. It was a good experience. And man, could I drop a boatload of cash in that store![laugh]

That's cool man, you almost expect bad service at big stores, glad you had a good experience. I think a large part of it is the people they hire and not really due to store policy/procedures. Some people are just nice helpful folks.

Cabela's is closeby but rarely do they have what I'm looking for. but I'm happy to report they had my auger blades when I couldnt locate a set anywhere else here in happy valley. Whats more they were 5 bucks off at the time so I dont regret the visit.

I have a few connections with Cabela's. If I ever have a problem, I ask about it. Believe it or not, they listen and take customer service very seriously. If you have a negative experience, let the store know about it. And then come vent to us!

I had a few bad experience at Cabelas, I wouldn't shop there unless something is on clearance. We went quite a few times when they first opened, at the time I lived in Draper so it wasent to far of a drive. every time we would go we couldn't find anyone to help us and when we asked for help they seemed put out. But we went the other day to look at a trolling motors for my pontoon. The sales man was right there to answer all my question also stated they would match the online price in the store (good way to avoid shipping charges[Wink]) I was really impressed changed my mind about Cabelas.

FYI: they have refurb Trolling Motors on sale online I picked up a 36# Minn Kota Endura for little over 100 bucks. [cool]

Glad you had a good experience. The only time I went there, I was going to by some flies. First, I waited in line for 25 minutes. When we picked out flies a guy walked around with us and fired his price gun at each one and handed us a receipt. I thought it was pretty cool. Until I reached the register. They said they didn't know why this person did this with the price gun. So the cashier called back and got a price on 25 different flies, and then did the same for my buddy. We were there forever. He had to explain what the fly looked like, and then the guy would look and respond back over the phone. Plus the flies were more expensive to sportsmans. I may take my kids back there to check out the tanks, but not worth the drive since most things are as expensive or more than sportsmans.
