I sure have enjoyed reading the message board so I decided to join in the chat. I have been fishing at Pineview over the last 3 weeks and have had a lot of success. I iced 21 perch, 2 crappie, and 3 smallies last Saturday. Went back Monday afternoon and caught 7 Crappie and lost just as many (of course it wasn't my fault that I lost the fish). So Pineview has been good to me. I would like to head back there tomorrow(Saturday 17th). Does anyone know the conditions of the ice? I have an hour drive and I don't want to drive in vain. If the ice is bad, any lake suggestions for crappie, bluegill, and bass?

Went to the narrows today, arrived at 9:30. Perfect day, barely any wind, warm after the storm. Fishing was ok, me and RedCat iced about a dozen decent size perch the 3 hours we were there. (sorry, the camera ran out of battery) Saw a couple anglers score some nice crappies in about 40 feet of water using castmasters tipped with wax worms. The bites were real light so make sure you have some strike indicators.
For all those thinking of heading out there the next few days, BE CAREFUL when getting on and out of the ice. The ice is extremely soft around the sides. Once you get on though, its about 10 inches. So my suggestion is to bring some kind of plank, otherwise the first 2-5 feet will require water proof gear. Good luck and be safe!

[cool]Great reports you guys and thanks for sharing. Also, lordCrappie (cool name), WELCOME aboard BFT's Utah board. I'm headed out Monday and hope the ice is o.k. when getting off the lake. If things don't cool back down, this might be the last ice trip for me because I don't have a power auger (for strawberry) and the edges are getting too soft everywhere else... This really sucks, because ice fishing season is crapping out on us about a month early this year thanks to mama nature...

Just returned from a nice day on the ice there.....it wont be long with this weather to make it really hard to get on the ice. Ono and I were at the narrows, with limited access. There is about 6-12 feet of iffy ice along the shore, after that the ice is still 10-12" thick. Had to go east a bit to get off the lake. Fishing was ok, as we iced about 40 perch and 1 crappie. Fishing anywhere from 35-58 feet. Had to move around to find some and then they were pretty finicky. Wont be long 'till were boating if this keeps up.

We've been getting on the ice by Cemetary Point and haven't had any problem Sat. or today. Perch fishing has been fair, we have had to move around to find the schools, we also pick up an occasional crappie. Plenty of ice where we have fished. Sat. saw alot of people scattered across the lake in various locations. I think the weather is suppose to cool off tonight with a chance of snow by morning, I think we still have some ice fishing left ahead of us on Pineview. I'm not ready to give it up yet. [cool]
