Hit Strawberry this morning with Frozenover.
We were on the water just as the sun was coming up. We were south of the Ladders. We took the four wheelers and went south down the shore line. We were heading down towards the narrows, when we ran into some pretty deep slush.
I got my four wheeler stuck, while getting the sled off the four wheeler, I stepped back into the tracks where the slush was and I couldn't find solid ice. I know it was there, the water was just deeper than my boot.
We turned around and worked our way back to one of the bays.
James caught a cutt on his first drop, and a 21.5" shortly there after. I caught a cutt about the same time, I didn't measure it, it was about 17". We were in 24' of water.
We didn't get a bite after that. We punched many, many holes. We went as shallow as 11' and as deep as 50'.
Tried many different colors, sizes and shapes. Tried meal worms, wax worms, night crawlers, power bait and minnows.
It was rare that we saw any thing on the finders.
We left the lake at 3:00pm.
We did get quite a laugh watching a group of guys trying to drill a hole with the cap still on the power auger.
The snow on the ice is getting quite soft and the snow that was on the trail as we came down from the parking lot, was a muddy mess on the way out. The snow is melting fast.
I hope the weather cools down and we get a few more trips this year. Although, if it this slow again, let it melt and bring on the poontoons.
