I am curious as to if there are any of you BFT'ers who have fished for Tiger Trout specifically? What was your story? I posted a piece on my blog about Tiger Trout that got me too thinking about fishing for some of them. However, Idaho doesn't stalk Tigers at this point. Anyone know why?

From my understanding the hatchery rate for Tiger Trout has been extremely low recent developments have improved these survival rates but Im thinking Idaho is probably just waiting till these survival rates improve.

I'm a Utah native so I've had the opportunity to fish for them in some of the lakes and reservoirs in Utah. They are a very fun fish to catch. They are great fighters and great to eat as well. They are also very beautiful fish. Although they are sterile some of them still get some of the spawning colors of the brook trout. I think it would be great to have some here in Idaho. Especially in those waters that need some extra help controling chubs and other non-game fish.

yes, at Schofield Reservior. Not in Idaho though. You can tell the difference between a tiger and a bow. The tigers seem to like the air better.
Write the Idaho F&G and find out the real story.
