The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is reminding anglers to take cameras along during every saltwater fishing trip. The state is holding an all-new Saltwater Ethical Angler photo contest and wants to see your best shots!

All you need to do is send a picture of you or someone else properly releasing or handling a saltwater fish, and you may be featured in an upcoming FWC publication. To be considered, you must handle your fish using recommended catch-and-release techniques. Every angler's responsibility is to strive for 100 percent survival of released fish.

An ethical angler handles his catch with wet hands only, is careful not to poke fingers into gills, and fully supports the body weight of the fish by cradling it horizontally. Large fish should not be taken aboard a boat, because removing it from the water can injure the fish.

Contest guidelines and a catch-and-release brochure that describes techniques you can use to increase survival of released fish can be found at MyFWC.com/marine. Submit your ethical angling photographs to EthicalAngler@MyFWC.com.
