Apparently whirling disease has been found in the lower stretches of the Duchesne River. In the short term, it is not that big of a deal, since it is mostly inhabited by browns which are fairly resistant to it.

However, in the long term, this is very bad. It is not too far upstream that there is a diversion canal that brings water into Strawberry Reservoir, Currant Creek Reservoir, Diamond Fork and Spanish Fork Rivers.

If we're not careful we could kiss that awesome fishing at Strawberry goodbye!

Also, upstream is habitat for native colorado river cutts too!

Yeah all thanks to that Leavitt family! I refer to all whirling disease that was probably introduced into the state by them as the "Leavitt Strain". I wonder how many millions of dollars harm to Utah's economy has been done by the results of their intentional introduction of whirling disease. Yeah and maybe whirling disease would be in Utah by now even without the Leavitt families' greed but surely it would be much less widespread. By the way Diamond Fork already has had whirling disease for years. It's curious that the would use the upper stretch above Three forks to reintroduce Bonniville Cutts given this.
