Good to excellent for lakers near Buckboard. I've heard a few reports of anglers taking a limit of 18-24 inch lakers in a matter of an hour or two when the bite is on. Use 3-inch tube jigs (glow, white) tipped with frozen sucker or chub meat. Fish main channel points and breaks, and if you have a fish finder watch the whole water column. Their typically caught on the bottom, but suspended fish have been active also. Morning and evening have both been productive depending on the day. Ice is about 14 inches.
Burbot are being caught near Buckboard also. Use the same patterns for lakers, but fish near or after dark, in 20-40 ft of water. Glow jigs seem to increase success along with a good hook set. Good luck.
