[size 1]The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service has proposed an FY 2008 budget of $1.3 billion, an increase of $16 million over 2007. ASA is pleased that $124.8 million of this budget was proposed for fisheries work, including fish passage and the Open Rivers Initiative. The fisheries budget has also been restructured to provide for more accountability and explanation of expenditures. An additional $452 million has been allocated for the Sport Fish Restoration Grant Program. [/size]
