The attached picture is a 10 hour drive from here...

Any guesses where this fish was caught at?

This was caught last October...

I am going to guess the upper Missouri river in Montana.

Somewhere on the Columbia downstream of the Tri Cities.

You're right - Mouth of the Deschutes River - Steelhead!!!!

This appears to be a steelhead trout (rainbow that went to sea) there has never been any naturally ocurring, or stocked, steelhead anywhere in the Missouri River watershed. The Missouri River flows east and eventually hooks up with the Mississippi. You'd need to look for a river that flows to the West and empties, eventually, into the Pacific Ocean. I'd guess, by the looks of the terrain, that this fish came from the Umpqua or some eastern section of the Snake.

Included a picture of a steelhead from a tributary entering Lake Erie. Steelhead can also prosper in the large Great Lakes as there is a tremendous amount of bait fish and the size and depth of the lakes is very similar to being ion the ocean.
