Saturday, 03/03/07- Hit the water early (5:45 am). Cold morning! Anchored in 75 Feet of water, in the channel, near Hole 33. Chummed a ton. Wind started picking up, creating small whitecaps. Action slow, only four two pound stripers in the box. National Park Service makes an announcement on channel 16 to all mariners to seek shelter due to high wind warnings with gusts up to 40 mph. Anchor slips after a tsunami of a gust, and the boat begins to drift across the channel. Okay, its time to go! Hauled in the anchor, stowed all gear, and enjoyed a wet and wild ride back to the marina. Off the water at 10:30. What a great day!

Must Have missed each other. I was trolling for Mr. Big again. I caught some of Mr. Big's smaller brothers. The weather was wild out there today thats for sure.

WOW! Trolling in the soup! Looks like you had a great time. I was sitting at anchor, kicking back, sipping hot coffee all morning. Only saw three other boats from Hole 33 to Vegas Wash today. Guess the lake was reserved today for the insane!

Maybe this will help. Head upstream in Las Vegas Bay, toward Las Vegas Wash. As you pass Sand Island you will see the mid-channel bouy marked LV A.

Gov't Wash can be seen in the background. The next bouy will be LV 3.

From this point Hole 33 is to the left (Lake Shore Road side) and a little down-stream. Across the channel is a red bouy. Anywhere near either bouy, or in the channel should be good fishing for small stripers. Just find a spot with fish under you and chum until they come.

Great report as always. Now, I know where Hole 33 is. I recognize the second pic. The buoy with the island. Isn't there a floating wood platform in the area as well? I believe it may be some type of solar panel. I fished that area last Memorial Day weekend right at sunset, and we only ended up catching one striper. I think we would have caught a ton had we stayed there longer but unfortunately the deck cruiser wasn't equipped with night lights.
Anyway, thanks for the great report, and I'm glad to hear you made it back to the marina safely.
Best regards,
Paul
