After work I hitched up the kid and myself and drove to the pond in the valley. Fished from 4:30 to 6:30 with a few trout hooked but not landed. I had my 2 1/2 yr old with me and his scooby doo fishing pole. I had quite a few on from jigging and then I would yell at my son to come over and reel it in and everytime during the switcheroo, they would shake it loose. Too bad, but tons of fun just to get out so close. Lots of Small lakies where being caught with a descent 3-4 lb'er being caught and released right by me. I did not even know they had lakies in there. So no fish but good memories for the boy. I was surprised how far he could even cast that thing. Most of his casts where 15-25 feet. I just stood there and laughed.

I think the lakers are left overs, or brood stock. Cool to catch out of a local pond though.

I agree with you. I dont think they could survive that shallow place, but who knows, I dont fish for them that often.

If they're not caught and eaten, by May you will surely find them rotting along the shorelines.
