If it wernt for the June suckers in Utah lake, could the poision it like they did the berry, or is th esurface area of the lake just to big?

there was a special on fox news last night saying how they where going to restore it to the lake of old and get 75% of the carp out

That ought to be interesting. Exactly how long do they figure that would last? Give them two good breeding seasons and we are right back where we started.

Many reasons it is impossible to remove all of the carp through poisoning. The size of Utah Lake alone probably makes it prohibitive. There are numerous streams entering Utah Lake that all contain carp. There are almost countless farm ponds feeding those streams that contain carp. Carp exist in Deer Creek that would work their way back down into Utah Lake. Poisoning is not an option for getting rid of them, but perhaps they could at least thin them out by poisoning shallow areas during certain times of the year; however, as has been mentioned, one or two good spawns and they are back in as thick as ever.

Yep, I seriously doubt that there is any feasible solution to getting rid of ALL of the carp in UL. When the PCB's were discovered, most commercial uses they could have benefited were thrown out the window. [unsure]
