[black]Hit the Bear yesterday for some spring ice fishing. Started off the morning trying for a few suckers. Seems every one was catching them but my two compadres. Hooked up with BLFG and watched him do his magic on Whites. He'd pluck one right after another from the rock-pile. Also quite a few other BFT regulars up there.[/black]

[black]After we tired of sucker fishing, it was time to try our hand at some trout. We move around quite a bit but the trout fishing was tough. We did manage a few with the largest being this nice cutthroat that went home to the fry pan.[/black]

Even though there is 12-14" of good blue ice there, there are several holes starting to develop in the ice. Everywhere we went, we had to dodge openings of open water, some large enough to swallow a 4 wheeler. Also there is about 2 inches of water under the melting snow. In other words, there is still a lot of good ice fishing left on Bear Lake but you need to pay attention to your surroundings.[/black] [black][/black] [black]The snow along the shorelines is melting and as of yesterday was about shot. The shorelines on beach access is pretty sloppy too. 4 wheelers can access the lake pretty easily but you'll need to pick and choose your access for snow machines if you don't want to go through the muddy sand.[/black]
