Hi BFT Members,
Im a new member as of today, though I have been watching the board daily for about the past 6 months I just barely registered. I just wanted to give a small fishing report on Scofield from Sunday.
We got on the ice about 9:30am. We fished off the bank in about 10-12 feet of water. We drilled about 5 differnt holes to give us some structural variety. We immediately started seeing fish that would investigate the varios jigs we were trying. It seemed that we were rejected in most cases. We started getting little nibbles with small rat finks and wax worms.
It was very difficult to set the hook off of these little nibbles but when we did, we found that it was a gigantic school of 2.5-3" minnows. We moved about 50 yard down short and were seeing fish on the depth finders there as well. We fished for a couple of hours trying different ice jigs about every 10 minutes.
We finally tried a pale pink and white ratso with a wax worm. They started hitting and we were pullin out 16-18 inch bows within seconds of droppin into the water. It got really hot. We iced about 50 nice fish throughout the day, and of course released 95% of them. It seems they are in spawn as the males are a very dark brown color.
I took pictures and will add them to the post when I get home from work tonight! []
