I've seen more than once on some of the other boards that people were having problems figureing out how to get a picture with thier fish while tubing by themselves. I can see where that would be a tricky senario, so what have some of you other tube goo roo's figured out? I know TubeN2 has been working on some sort of contraption to resolve this problem. How's it coming steve?

Haha yeah that is def. a problem for me. The pictures i get on my tube are from holding the fish out and taking the picture of just my hand and the fish. You can't really get a good idea of how big the fish is from that angle unless you have something next to the fish for a scale for size.

LOL, I actually posted this more so for you dude. [
] It really would be nice if there was a way for our tubers to get a good pic with out alot of hassle. I'm sure either the little tube or tube"dad" have a trick up thier sleeve, atleast until Steve gets done with his invention. [
] There's also alot of other anglers on this board that tube, which based on the amount of posts, we should be able to come up with something. [cool]

We raised this question awhile ago and there wasn't much discussion. The unspoken consensus at that time seemed to be that there were some pretty tight limitations from self photography on board a tube. Here are a few shots that I would list:
1. Holding fish at arm's length.
2. Holding netted fish at arm's length - in net.
3. Laying fish on casting apron.
4. Holding net down in water and taking shot looking down into the net.
5. Holding fish with one hand softly just above the water, hand under belly. This one takes a docile fish which may suddenly decide to take off before you can shutter the picture.
5. With bass, which can be held by the lower jaw, holding fish up next to your face, extending your camera arm out with the lens facing you and taking the shot.
6. I don't keep many fish but for those who do a hoisted stringer or fish basket might make a good shot (though I like live fish pictures much better.)
7. I have done self portraits by setting my camera on a dock with the auto shutter set for 10 or 15 seconds, then backing away in front of the lense. (This might work with dead fish or fish not intended for release. Just don't drop the camera into the drink.)
Of course if you tube with a buddy, most of this is second rate stuff - provided he/she isn't a clutz.
I await the fertile engineering mind of TubeN2 to resolve this issue for us and make his first million $.

Thanks for the quick reply Z, i'm sure steve will jump in this afternoon and let us all know what he's come up with so far. [cool]

[black][size 3]If I can hold the fish in one hand, then yes, at arms length. If it is too big to hold with one hand (which seems to be happening to me a lot lately....darn[
]) then I take the picture in my net laying on my feet. Plus I like to show off the beautiful Tropical Lightning Creations net.[cool][/size][/black]

Great thread. I had crappy pictures all year, and then tried the 2 most popular options with mixed results.
Arms Length (I cut off half of the fish):
On the apron (seem to have a little bit better luck) still not perfect:
I was just happy that my skunking drought was over.....
Even though the first 2 LMB were not very big -- they were mucho fun to catch with my trout gear (5' pole with 4 lb line).

Looks like the apron is the way to go. That's pretty sweet it has a measuring tape on it. [cool]
Steve was talking about making something to actually hold the camera out infront of him, and just put the camera on a timed reaction. He wanted to actually get in the picture with the fish. The only problem with that is you won't know how the picture is going to be until you take it and pull it over and have a look. You'd have to hard mount the camera in order to know right where it needs to be to get a good photo.

[black][size 4]Lap shots work, but you can't tell WHO caught them.[/size][/black]

Purdy fish [

What about getting a life sized picture of your upper torso and head and having it laminated to make it water proof. Then, you could prop it up infront of you, hold the fish infront of it and take a snapshot. LMAO [laugh]
Hey, it could work.

On that note...take the mugshot, paint a ruler on it, laminate, add some clips--new apron!!!

Large fish. Really bright toon or tube and we have a pretty good idea who caught it.[sly]

[cool][#0000ff]Sorry it took me awhile to "weigh in" on this one. Been fishin'. Been takin' pitchurs of my fish held at arm's length...again.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Ain't no really good solution. If you set up a tripod you will be hasslin' with it all the time you aren't taking pictures. No good. Also not good to try to shoot back at yourself. We have all seen those "Freddy Krueger" pics.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I thought I had it all figured out. I bought matching cameras...one for me and one for my fishng partner (wife). Result, we have tons of pics of her, but very few of me. She either leaves the camera home (on purpose) or won't stop fishing long enough to capture a "photo op". Even when I beg, threaten or barter, it is tough to get her to put down her rod and pick up her camera...or to use mine.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I thought it might be easier to hire a good looking young lady to ride along in my tube and then get out and shoot the pics when necessary. Bad idea. Slashed tubes don't float and it is tough to cast with broken arms...or see out of swollen eyes. Yessir, photography can be a dangerous business.[/#0000ff]

Looks like my boat [cool]Huh flygoddess

I'm still working on it. I had to get my maiden voyage down first. Now it is time for the accessories.
I did come up with the ultimate rod rack though. I haven't seen any like this yet.
The tube even has a beer holder to boot.

[cool][#0000ff]One question. How do you get up to the "second deck"...stairs, escalator, elevator, rope climb...?[/#0000ff]

No question that would be the tube for people with "Little Man" syndorme [
] (I don't think that will offend anybody here-- since I have seen the pictures, and I don't think that applies to any of us.)

If you notice the light on the back of it, it has the elevator to the upper deck in side of it.[cool]

It is not really as big as it looks.
Just look at it compared to the two story housed next to it.

It is only slightly bigger than both of the 2 story houses.[cool]
Hey Dusty:
You and I both know, this ain't no little mans sport.[
