Im sorry I don't have a pic but it was a site to see... My neighbor who has lived here for 20 years has never caught a fish in his back yard (Hobble Creek....Carp_Punisher knows) and today he landed a sweet 20 inch native Brownie. These fish are really gorgiouse since they are native. I have landed several 10-12 inchers but for him to bring that baby out was a pleasent supprise ... I have not see a fish that size in a long time due to all the development that has gone on by the creek for the past 20 years....

I will try to post a pic of the beauty of the Brownie but it's not the actual fishy... this one is only 9 inches..

Not to be negative but brown trout are not a native species in utah lol. But a great story none the less.

No offense taken. I know they are not native, I just call them that because they are not planters and the river thrives with them... just wish they were all big.

I was told a story by my Grandmothers hair dresser that the German Brown were considered a trash fish due to there nature of being carnivorous, and the way we sometimes treat the Carp by throwing them on the bank to be taken by nature is the same way they did with Browns years ago.

I love the Browns for many reasons.
1- Great fighters.
2- Very elusive.
3- Gorgeous and all natural with no inbreeding. (As far as I know).

I appreciate the comment BB. Good fishing to you and your family.

What do you mean by no inbreeding? Just curious.

I guess what I mean is we have a cutbow (planted) and there was another one that I can't remember but they are all planters by the DWR (Which I don't mind) and they all have the cut fin on them. I always get excited when I catch a natural fish that is not planted, and yes I let them go for the future.

Please don't get me wrong here, I may not know exactly what im talking about, im just going off knowledge that I have learned from my Grandparents who raised me here in Springville on Hobble Creek.
Any enlightenment is much appreciated.

No, I was not finding fault or anything, I understand what you mean now. I'm like you, I'd rather catch naturally producing fish, but I'll be happy to catch any fish at all! I fish the Lower Provo quite a lot where about the only thing we catch are brownies. Getting harder too with all the fishing pressure and the erradic water flow from the dam and the diversion dams. Where abouts did you catch that in Hobble creek? Where you up the canyon? I wonder how far down they live.

I live in Brookside so it was right out in my back yard. I know there are some biggins down by Kolob park as well, I have just been to busy doing yard work to walk down there.
