I just read this on a fishing report from another website. It was dated 3-30-07 so I guess it just happened but this was the first I had heard of it:

Gill-netting Lands Monster Brown
Ray Schelble was assisting with the Utah DWR gill net survey last week and helped land a monster brown trout from Jordanelle. The 33-inch long fish weighed 21 pounds and had a girth of 23 inches. It was returned to the lake if you are inclined to go fishing there. Also found were a number of browns ranging up to 10 pounds and a trophy smallmouth.

[cool]I'm pretty sure that that was the gil net study from Spring of '05. I believe bassrods was in on that one helping out for the day. One thing is for sure though, there's a ton of big brown's in that lake! I wanna try to catch some this Spring and into the fall...

Where do you think those Big Browns are located on Jordanelle? If my memory serves me right they are usually located in the area just North of the main boat launch correct? I believe that is where they did that Gill Net survey. I want to get into one of those hefty Browns too, maybe instead of FG on the 14th I will try Jordanelle again.

[cool]Crap! I had a nice big informative response all typed up for this, and then I went to post it and lost everything.[pirate][pirate] Anyway, I'll do my best here to come up with the rest. While I'm not a bonified expert on Jordanelle, I have also heard that the area North of the Ramp is good, but I also know from a recent personal ice fishing experience that the area around the personal watercraft launch (especially that area next to the big long point) is good for big browns. BassAckward hooked into two monster browns on our last trip out there-both of which broke him off-one of which I got a good look at him first, and that fish was easily over 25 inches. I've also heard that the Rock Cliff arm holds some big brownies.

Hopefully some experienced 'Nelle brown chasers will chime in on this, but if not, then you should send a p.m. to Lundman, Bassrods, CBR, or TubeDude. There's a few others that really know that lake too, but their monikers escape me at the moment...Good luck in your pursuits...

I thought it was the one from last year also, but it seems to me that the fish was dead and in a cooler. This one they say was released. I'm not sure if it is up to date or not, that's why I posted it on here. I figured someone on here would know the real story. I'll try to find the website I was looking at and post a link to it.

This time of year at the nelle look for steep banks, points that are close to springs that feed in to the main lake.

HOLLY SH&*!!! I wouldn't even know what to do with a fish like that. Maybe one of these days I will get to have a picture like that. As long as you guys put them back I guess I have a chance!

How much did the fish in the second pic weigh??? Mine was 12# and some change but that fish is obese(sp).

Luckycraft "Ghost Minnow" Bevy Shad, Pointer DD 78s (jerk bait) and really jerk em, Green Pumpkin Black Flake curly tail on a drop shot, any worm on a drop shot. Fish the entire column, they will be anywhere from a foot deep up feeding, all the way down to 60 feet.

Forget the fish. How much does that freak of nature holding it weigh??? And how about that facial hair? Where could one go to catch something like that??

I second that thought. I caught a 24" Brown south of the personal watercraft ramp right out from the big point. Used a perch Glass Shad Rap Rapala. Felt like a big snag at first! This was fall of 04 or 05.
