im going to the gorge on aug 17th for a week for my honny moon [ LUCKY ME]!!!!. ive fished there my whole life with my dad and grampa but weve only fished for kokes, my dad took me to linwood once and i had a biggen on but he got off. any way i would like to take a guide out that can show me a spot or too. ive been saving up for two yrs [still not alot] im wanting too go out twice so i need a guide that wont break the bank and that may be willing to trade a date of the week if the weather gets bad because i know how the wind can ruin a trip at the gorge in a real hury. i belive it was tarpon jim thats a guide up there but im not sure. ive seen a poster in manila for a guide called hank guts up in manila has anyone been out with him? any info would be very mutch appriciated THANK YOU bf6.

Yes TarponJim is a guide at the Gorge his website is www.fishflaminggorge.com I believe he has a calender with open dates. If this does not work for you try a search on yahoo for flaming gorge fishing that should turn up more guides for the gorge.

if you know how to jig, then getting the jig motion is no big deal, it's the hook set that you need to (freshen, speed), up on. jigging for macks is fun but you have to be super fast at the hook set, you have about 1\4 of a second to set the hook thats it. like Tarponjim says, you can't be looking around at other boats or mountains, you need to pay 110 percent attention to the rod tip. the bite happens so fast you don't feel it, you just see it. hope you get a trip with Tarponjim this year, myne is coming up in a few weeks, I can't wait for it. later chuck

Bigfish: Send me an email. My calendar is completely booked full until September this year, but I have a couple of trips where the guys think the mail takes 3 weeks or something for their deposit to reach me (TWO DAYS from the Wasatch Front!!). I'm ready to just give their days to someone who will pay the deposit instead of just lying that it's "in the mail" over and over. Two days are in August, and up for grabs if their checks aren't here PDQ.
