I caught no SM bass but got distracted when the water warmed by the carp experience. The water temperature was ~46 F in the morning near Massacre. Later, in the shallows downstream at the peak it hit 59 F. The carp were going nuts but when it got late afternoon, the temperature of the water went down to 53 F in the shallows and carp just quit the spawn as if somebody flipped a switch. I got one real nice one at 29 # with 36.5" length and about 29" girth. I will attempt to attach a photo.

ly, I ran out of time and had to sacrifice her to the carion eaters. I have had several succesful carp smokes by filleting the backs above the mudline and slicing them thin and going through the normal smoke routine for fish. Tasty table fare if one puts their bias aside. I suspect they are high in omega-3 although I doubt there has been much study on it. I try to do my part by removing the "trash fish" from the environment but realize that I can't really make a dent so I just enjoy the challenge and the fight. The best fight I had all weekend was snagging a 4# carp by the tail with my steelhead rod. The little ones have more spunk for some reason. The one in the photo was shot with a bow and there was one point where I thought the 80# line would snap.
