Fished Pineview from my boat with a friend and two of his boys. Main lake surface water was 50 degrees. Trolled some different lures without a hit.
Moved into one of the protected coves. Water temperature there was 53 degrees. Put on some dinky crappie/perch jig and dressed it up with a wax worm I had left over from ice fishing. Attached a small sinker and threw it toward some submerged brush in about 6 feet of water. Something heavy grabbed it and swam right under my boat and then the line went limp.....cutt clean by a fresh-water baracuda []. Rigged up another small jig and attached a wax worm again. Several casts later saw the flash of a fish slam my Jig and felt a hefty tug. Thought it was a bass but turned out to be another Tiger. He jumped right out of the water once. Got lucky, hooking it on the outer lips. Netted my first Tiger of the year. Estimated it to be between 25 and 30 inches. I fought the urge to lift him out of the water and weigh it since I've heard they are so delicate. He said adios by flicking water in my face with his tail as he swam away.
Kids and friend got borred cause they were not catching anything so ended up heading back only after a couple hours of fishing.
Water was about 10 feet from full and fairly clear still.
