[black]We got down to Yuba Friday Evening around 7:00. Wind was blowing pretty good, so we set up camp and ate dinner. From the reports, Friday was good, but turned off big time Saturday. The weather was Sunny and HOT! A lot of fish cruising the shallows and you could see everyone of them, which means we had to go into stealth mode.[/black]
[black]I landed some in the shallow bay and more in 60 feet of water hanging around 30' to 48' deep.[/black]
[black]Then Last Night, Lightning storm from H#$%&. with winds to match. I guess the fish already knew this. Woke up this morning with puring rain and Black sky as far as I could see, so headed home.[/black]

[black]Fish were anywhere from 14" to 18" and fat as heck. FIGHT! I wanna tell you, these guys were ready to scrap![/black]
[black]I netted several and lost a couple but it was SOOO worth it![cool][/black]

Very nice report and pic! Too bad the weather cut the fishing short!

Make sure to come to the Trophy Board and post some pics of the pigs you have caught! [angelic]

I fished Yuba on friday too. I was just fishing from the shore and the fishing was kinda slow. I did manage to catch a small rainbow using a gold vibrax though. It just got too chilly for me to stick around when the wind started blowing and the sun started down. Was you on the east or west side?

One of the most crazy storms I have ever been in was while we were camping at Yuba last year on the evening of 24th of July. Thunder, lightning, and WIND. It was crazy. I feel your pain!

Nice fish. To bad about the weather.

[cool][#0000ff]What? No carp?[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Bummer about the weather. Yuba is (in)famous for wind and funky weather...especially when you go down to camp there.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Glad you found a few though. Those fish do fight well. When they are big and healthy they fight like steelhead.[/#0000ff]

Missed you FG at Daniels. Almost thought I saw Cardiac- looked like his toon but it wasn't him.

To bad about the monsoon that blew in on you guys but atleast you got in to a few fish. Kevin and I decided to journey up to Jordenelle. It was a beautiful day how ever the fishing was not that great. Kev managed o real nice smallmouth and that was it. On the bright side I finally bought my state parks pass yea.

Sorry packfish, Daniels was the first choice, but Pokey said he had plans for the weekend (we didn't know he ment GOLF), we went south where it was warmer! Plus the water (from what I hear) is a lot clearer than Daniels.
We will get up that way soon, so stay in touch.

Daniels was fairly clear water- certainly 100% clearer than Treasureton.

[black]Great to know. Now some questions for you. How high is the water? Is that last camp site before the farm land (when you take a quick right going in tho the ramp exit, and follow the road all the way to the end)open?[/black]
[black]Finally.....how did you do?[/black]

Did well to say the least- You can drive down to the other end- at least there was a truck down there. Water is up. There were a few guys fishing strike indicators in close and doing well though I think the larger fish were being caught deeper. Far side off the rocks was producing as was the north end. The dam seemed to have quite a few smaller fish in schools. I left the toons at home and took a 14 ft aluminum. It really was nice to be able to scope out the lake a little quicker than I normally do, though I spent most of the time on the oars controlling the drift. I would have to say the best fly was a small black and red crystal flash bugger on about 10 feet of 2X Fluro. Most fish were 16 to 19 and a couple at 20 and one at 23".

[black]Down by the trees is where I would have been more than likely.[/black]
[black]With the indicator and a 20' leader with a couple of Chironomids on the end. They always produce up there as does the chub pattern.[/black]

WE did fish down there before we left. Just anchored out 20 yards and cast and let the wind swing the flies in and then stripped back. Did well but not any beasts. Quite a bit of tail walking though. Best part of being down there is that if you close your eyes you could be in the Congo. Some strange noises coming out of that jungle.
