If I remember right , Stripers don't have the swim bladder like most fish . They can't suspended like other fish with a swim bladder . That is why they keep moving all the time . I think that is why wipers die in my livewell . You better keep some of those stripers .

Good luck on your trip. Catch a lot of stripers and others fish.

Generally speaking, if the fish is Anadromous, there will be no airbladder.[cool]

If you hitting powell you should keep all strippers or kill them and give them to some one else. That lake has a ton of them and they want you to kill them that is why there is no limit on them. I have never seen a air bladder on a striper and that has been when i pulled them up from over 70 ft. Anyways have fun

[size 1]I am going on this trip to Powell with fencekid, bigdaddybow, fishinggoddess and a couple of non-BFTers. The pic is of the only stripper I caught last year on the troll over to Moki Canyon. I was confined to camp last year so didn't get much fishing in. This year we rented a house boat so I plan to out fish the whole gang!! We plan on catching a ton of strippers but is it illegal to kill em and then dump em back in the water for fish food? Or do I keep em and take em home for garden fertilizer? Sorry about the edit. I tried to downsize the pic and lost my connection and then lost all the text. I guess if I posted more I might not have this problem.

We caught one 3 weeks ago that had its air bladder sticking out its mouth,(maybe it was its stomache?) it was caught at about 90 feet down jigging. It was also puking out shad! I hardly ever see the air bladder on Stripers, but do occasionally. We either keep them or test them for headaches then send them back.

Method for testing them for headaches:
Hit them on the head with a piece of rebar or small fish bat. If it looks like they have a headache, gently put them back in the water to see if they can swim it off.

As per Wayne, all Stripers caught should be killed, whether they are kept or not.

We will look for you this week at Powell! I'll be in a 24 foot teal and white 4 Winns with a 15 horse Johnson trolling motor on the back!
