My son and I shot down South today to take the SS Koldfeet on her maidan voyage. We didn't hit the water until about 8:30, but as I remember, sometimes at Vernon they don't bite to early anyway. As soon as my Rapala started swimming, it was "fish on". Ki and I took turns catching fish pretty steadily until we left at about 1:30. Mostly planter 'bows, but I did manage a couple of small browns, including 1 who hit like a "big boy" and tail walked half way to the boat. Sorry no pics, we left the camera in the Tahoe, and only kept 2 deep hooked rainbows for dinner.
It looked like shore anglers were doing okay as well using bait or lures. There were alot of campers for such a small area. But most were riding ATV's, not fishing. The wind blew a bit, but never made it too miserable. All in all, it was great to spend a couple hours fishing with my son. I sure am glad that he likes to fish.
