Before I get asked, TSS is top secret spot. Just thought I'd share some pics and a little report. Here's what I threw on the DWR site. Tubedude, I just looked on the Photobucket site and it said they were 680 X 480.... so I wasn't that far off unless you meant to put them maxed at a 400 square. The next size down is 320 x 240 and I'm not going to rob my pics of detail that badly so I'll just attach them or not put em up or something. Sorry if I ruffled feathers, it certainly wasn't intentional. [unsure]

Fished yesterday in a location that will remain unnamed, at least by me, even if I were to receive PM's. This is my top secret spot and as far as I know, only three people know about it because of me and one of them is deceased. Actually my deceased ex father in law (awesome guy)showed me this spot, which makes it even more special. Anyway, I started fishing downstream and my first hookup was with a brown that reminded me of why I fish this place... nice big wide browns with the best coloring I've ever seen. The spots on these fish were almost strawberry pink, as opposed to the orange or dull brown that so many of the browns seem to carry. I don't know if its because of diet, stream composition, I have no idea. I just know they're gorgeous! Anyway, kept fishing down the stream, only averaging a fish or two per hour. I think this is because I'd only fish the holes, rarely the riffles, and sometimes there was a bit of walking between holes. I think (I was really trying to keep track for accuracy's sake) but I think I caught eleven or twelve and hooked into at least four that got off. I did wind up keeping one fish at the end just because I haven't eaten a brown in forever and I want to put one on the grill again. I usually see some grouse when I'm on this creek but didn't this time, maybe when I fish upstream instead of down I'll see them. I did get in trouble when I got home because I'd been gone ALL DAY, but for this spot, the making up I have to do is worth it... This trip is always a nostalgic trip and one I spend reflecting on things.......nature, God, memories of my father in law Willy, and its a good place for me to do a thorough brain drain and refresh myself. The pictures are now attachments at regular size.

[size 3]Good report, nice fish. If I were you, I wouldn't share the location of that little stream with anyone, even my wife. [/size]

[size 3]Those are really great looking fish, and the pictures are exceptional.[/size]

So, what did you get em on, how'd you fish? Did you put a tape to them? Nice fishies.

[cool][#0000ff]Very nice pictures. But, if you right click on them, and then click "properties", you will see that they are 640 pixels. That is well over the 400 pixel limit.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]I have also requested that you attach the pics, rather than posting from a remote photo bucket.[/#0000ff]

Just for inaccurate measurement's sake, I just measured from my waist (I'm sitting down) to my knee cap and my little blue state issued ruler says sixteen inches (+/- 1/4 inch or so). Most of the fish that day were at least that long and several would have hung over the knee by at least a couple inches... I know thats really basic but thats the best I can do since I don't carry a tape. Sorry.... I caught them on a split shot rig that I usually use fishing rivers anymore. They were all caught on plastics although I did see one other person all day fishing with flies, and I've done ok in this same spot (including some nicer cutts) with a gold spinner.

The pictures are attachments now instead of straight from Photobucket. [unimpressed] Hope thats ok that they aren't resized in the attachment area... if not, I'll just take em off.

[cool][#0000ff]Thanks. No problem with ATTACHING the pics. We just ask that anything within the post be kept a maximum of 400 pixels.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]That's why I attach more pictures than I put inside the posts. You can attach larger files and they will show more detail. Some pics are too purty to downsize too much.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Did you save any of those silly trout for catfish bait? Oh...you can't use trout? How about some live June sucker minnows then?[/#0000ff]

Nice fish! Georgeous colors. Noticed you didn't show much background behind the fish so a guy could guess where you were, but I think I did recognize that one grassy bank...... Just kidding! Anyway, I was interested in that split shot rig you were using, care to share? PM me or post.

Great going! KoldFeet

No, you're right. Leaving out background material was purely intentional.... sorry. Its a sentimental and pressure sensitive spot so thats why I just posted pictures and not a location. The split shot rig I use is just a plastic bait (mostly anything... tubes, minnows, creatures, craws, will work) rigged on a split shot/drop shot hook size 1-4 with the hook sticking out of the bait. I just don't rig weedless... if you're doing it right, you won't catch many weeds. I also take a small split shot and put it anywhere from 2-6 inches above the bait depending on speed of current. More current makes the bait ride higher in the water so if thats the case, I move the shot closer to the lure. You just have to try different retrieves until you find the one that the fish like.... they'll let you know. [cool]
