I'm sure they're already signed up for the Villa Derby!

I feel bad for the deputy--imagine the ribbing he's getting from his sherriff buddies for getting knocked into the water by some drunk lady. Poor guy.

Yea but than again does the lady make a Cow yellowfin look small?

WHY WOULD ANYONE SLEEP IN A TINY BOAT ON UTAH LAKE? SUICIDE.
[signature]
Sleep ????? or with the effects of the booze and the drugs may have clouded better judgement and the boat was just a rocking a little to much [

Interesting reply Jim,are you saying all derby fishermen have the same mentality as these two in the new article. I'm not signed up for any derbies for this summer ,but that could change over time.
One more question before I go. Jim has anyone ever hired you ,while they were part of any derby?

Kokeking: I was just taking a stab, making a few giggle, and making a point at the same time with one simple sentence.
But, since you asked, I'll be dead serious. Those that kill a 20-40 year old lake trout for a derby and possible $1500 make those two in the article look like geniuses.
And second, there's a whole lot of drinking and boating (and driving in autos) going on at the Villa Derby. Just see for yourself on the water or at the dock, or ask one of the jail employees. There's a lot of beers in hands on Sunday afternoon (and all weekend), and I see the same guys driving right by the house an hour later.
That's all I was saying. I think most people got it. Take a breath.
(Remember, this is the Utah side of the board, where a little debate and controversy is required from time to time!) Over on the "friendly side", (And I like the few that post regularly on the WY board for the most part, you included) I certainly wouldn't try to crack a joke or say anything that might, possibly, could be, may be, slightly controversial or stir any kind of intellectual or otherwise lively debate or discussion of any kind! No sir, just what's goin' on up at the crick or on the pond, and a howdy once in a while.[sly][sly]
Go get 'em King![sly]

[cool][#0000ff]One other little tidbit/sidenote is that the guy involved is the one that was arrested for burning and torturing kittens a while back.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Really class people.[/#0000ff]

Sorry, I forgot to answer your second question. Yes, I have had dozens of calls over the years for requests to guide people in the derby. I have refused all of them, even some who offered a couple thousand dollars to go lake trout fishing in it. Some guy 3 years ago called a month prior and offered $2500 for 3 days.
I will not allow a lake trout over 28 inches to be harvested on my boat for any amount of money, at least not any amount of money anyone would be willing to pay me, and also donate to Game and Fish to fund the resource.
I'd consider it if someone who killed a lake trout with me wanted to pay for, say, the rearing and stocking of 50,000 trout or kokanee to be re-stocked into the lake for lake trout food.
But no, I can't be bought for the Derby. I don't fish it, and I don't charter that weekend. And besides, I don't drink either![sly]

Tubedude: While we're talking facts that are public record, the guy "involved" who owns the derby was also arrested AND convicted for guiding illegally on the lake in the mid-90's. I know, because I'm the one who booked the trip and was present when officers arrived at the Sheep Creek boat ramp. The bastard never did give me my money back either, and the Forest Service didn't return it either after the judgement, as they promised.
Yet, they still issue him a permit to hold a blood-bath. "Your government at work!"

[cool][#0000ff]Sometimes seems like there just ain't no justice in the world. Everytime some drunken SOB wipes out a young family on the road they always walk away with no injuries.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Wish I could offer some words of consolation. Your only hope is that someday he WILL get what's coming to him.[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]Then again, I could hold him while you....[/#0000ff]
