Hey everyone,

I am trying to decide where to take a few people fishing this weekend. We are heading down around the Manti area. Does anyone have any reports or information for either PaliSades resevoir or Gooseberry resevoir or any others in the area? We are fishing from shore and none of us have been down there for years so we need some advice for where the better fishing action would be.

Thanks for all the help.

I don't know when Gooseberry is stocked but last time I fished it, 3 years ago, there were tons of planter bows biting on everything.

[cool][#0000ff]They just got the second state record tiger trout out of PaliSades within six months. Lots of tigers and cutts and they hit good from shore. Throw any kind of spinner or other lure that looks like a minnow...or fish dead minnows either on the bottom or under bobbers.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]If Gooseberry is the little lake up on the skyline, it might still have some ice on it.[/#0000ff]

PaliSades it is! Thanks for the help. Where is the best place to get the minows and what is the best rig to use for them?

[cool][#0000ff]PaliSades is full of small fathead minnows. That is why tigers were stocked there, to help maintain control. But, there are no commercial sources of fathead minnows for bait.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Sportsmans Warehouse sells chub and redside shiner minnows. They will both work, but if you can't find small ones you can sometimes get by with pieces of larger minnows. I like to use small tube jigs and tip them with small pieces of minnows. The fish seem to like that okay too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Actually, a lot of the Sanpete area residents use plain old nightcrawlers and do fairly well too.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Here is a pic of the 10 pound tiger caught a month ago that is pending state record.[/#0000ff]

Wow! That is a nice fish! I was already getting excited about this weekends trip but now I am not going to be able to sleep at night!

Thanks again for all of your help. I will post a report once we get back from the trip. If anyone else has any other helpful tips for PaliSades feel free to stick them on here. All help is greatly appreciated!!
