Me and Old Coot went out on a Tiger hunt yesterday. The weather is getting warm again and its about that time of year the Tigers go up in the shallows and get active. I decided to endure the pain with a broken wrist and all and spend the day casting in hopes of a big ole muskie!!

The water is around 55 degrees now. We started off fishing in a few of my favorite bays. We could see tigers hanging out in 6 feet of water. Had a few follows but no takers. Then the wind kicked up and pushed us out of my preferred locations. I took us over to the back bay of the middle fork. We spent the rest of the day drifting with the wind csating in that bay.

I picked up a couple nice smallies and a snagged carp! Still no tigers. Around the last two hours of the day we found a strech 50 feet off the shore that was holding some active Tigers. In the next few hours I hooked 2 or 3 tigers and really nice bass that got off at the boat. Pretty sure it was a Largemouth. Old Coot hooked into a tiger that unhooked itself near the boat. We probably missed 3 or 4 more also. We started getting alot of action but I only put one in the boat and a couple self released tigers at the boat. Which is probably better since I only have one good hand!!!!!

In the end it turned out to be an OK tiger hunt. With the warm spell coming it should really turn on in a week or two. All fish were caught in 6-7 feet of water on smaller baits. All the tigers hooked or seen where around th 30" mark. No monsters to be found Sad

Short end of the story I got in a fight with an SUV traveling 30mph down State Street!!! Basically I got hit by a car a few weeks ago!!! Ouch is all I can say!!! It was just good to get out for the first time in two weeks. I had been sitting around rcovering. At least I know my spring fishing season is not ruined now.lol

[#002850]Thanks much for the trip Nate. As always, there is much to learn from a day on the water with you. I'm looking forward to getting back out when the water warms a bit more and try all those techniques, lures, and locations you showed me. Even though I didn't boat a tiger, the training I got was very valuable.

Sorry about not replying sooner, but my home PC went belly up.

Again, thanks much and I hope that fishing trip didn't set you back on the healing of your broken wrist. Man, you are one dedicated fisherman.

Thanks again for the day on Pineview.[/#002850]
