Hi there ReelMN,
Saltwater-Shimano/Spinning, Calstar/Conventional
I like the general characteristics of these rod's designs circa late 1990's to the present.
Freshwater- Diawa/Conventional, Shimano/Spinning
I like the general characteristics of these rods design, weight, pricing.
Flyfishing- Graphite USA- 9'6" HD, 2-piece, #8, middle price range, TRUE lifetime guarrantee. Tough construction but a little beefy on the top side. definately not parabolic. (none of mine are finesse rods though)
That's it for now,
JapanRon

Shakespeare Uglystik
I like the lightweight version 5'6"
I have literally had this rod bent in half several times. It always snaps back!

Berkely's Techna AV series has a G Loomis feel and unsurpassed strength with its Kevlar composite. I have a 7' Spinning Rod with fast action. Usually, I like to judge the quality of a rod by the number of line guides it has. The 7' Techna carries nine guides and the handle grip is all cork. I hate holding on to those threads for the reel seat. We all know that you can catch fish on any rod by being at the right place at the right time, but being the crazy caliber of fishing enthusiast I am, I definitely enjoy the experience more with my rod choice. How about you?

THIS CLASIC BUEATY WAS A GIFT FROM SOME REALLY SPECIAL FRIENDS . ALL OF THEM PITCHED IN TOGETHER , IN ONE WAY OR ANOTHER , TO MAKE THIS ONE OF A KIND ROD MINE . [cool] GOOD PALS CAN'T BE BEAT !
THEANGLER COULD PROBABLY GET YOU A DEAL ON ONE , OR YOU COULD TRY YOUR LUCK AT THE 16 SPECIES FISH CONTEST TO WIN YOUR CHOICE OF 1 OF THREE KINDS THAT ARE MADE FOR HIM ( GOOD LUCK , I'M GETTING IN ON THAT ONE ) .
THE ONE I HAVE COULDN'T BE TOUCHED FOR UNDER A GAZILLION BUCKS , EACH BUCK WOULD HAVE TO BE A THIRTY POINTER OR BETTER TOO ! [

I have three rods right now. One of them (can't remember the make/model) had the lowest come off when I dropped it accidently. Cheap thing. So I got me a medium/heavy Ugly Stick. Man, is that thing ugly! Just wish it was longer since most of my fishing is in the river, from shore. I've also got me a cheap Shakespeare light/medium duty.
I've learned my lesson. Just as it is with electronics, many times you get what you pay for. I've upgraded reels and the new reel is amazing! I spent more for my Ugly Stick then I did for my original combo... what a difference in performance! Now I'm lookin' to get me a 6'6" to 7' ultra-light for some panfishing. Just gotta find one in my price range. Any suggestions guys?

DAVETCLOWN IS THE PANFISH EXPERT , I KIND OF LIKE THE BROWNING STUFF . BUT THE 16 FISH SPECIES HAS A ROD THERE AS WELL FOR THIS , BETTER THAN G. LOOMIS TOO IN MY OPINION .

I almost exclusively fish streams/rivers for trout with spinning gear.
Ultralight (2 lb line): 5'6" Fenwick HMG GFS 55 or 7' G Loomis SR 841-2 depending on size of stream and amount of brush. I've tried Bass Pro's 8'6" ML86ULS-2 Micro-Lite but found it too whippy for hardware. It may be good for bait.
Light (4 lb line): The previously mentioned 7" G Loomis SR 841-2 or 6'6" Fenwick HMG GFS 64. Use the Fenwick on big rivers with good sized fish. Backup: Old, old, 6'6" Shakespere Professional Wonderod
Heavy -- for me (big canyon rivers with big fish) (8 lb line): 7' Fenwick HMG GPLS 70. Backup: 6'6" Ugly Stick SPL 1100.
