I went to Willow Pond on 5/1/07. This was my first time trying spin-fly fishing. They had just stocked it early that day. I caught 55 fish (and released 51) from 12 inches to 15 inches, in a 2 1/2 hour period of time.[cool][cool][cool] They would not leave my fly alone. It was an awesome experience. I think I am going to have to try spin-fly fishing more often.

I was there yesterday and it was very good as well. I tried to see how many different kind of baits I could use. While fly and bobber were most productive I also managed one on a spinner, 1 on a Kastmaster and one on a 2 inch curly tailed grub. I was a little bummed as I could not get them to bite on my Maniac Minnow I had lots chase it and a few nudge it but none would bite.

I was using a renegade fly with a bobber. The fly was black body with a brown wing spray and a red tail.

Yea i have no idea the name of the one I was using. I only know the names of a few. The one I was using has a gold bead head and was brown, it had a very slight main so to speak and a forked tail. I a sure many others can say what it is but not me, i just buy them and huck them.

Does it look like the fly you were using?

Sort of. I am using the name Renegade as the packaging of it from Wally-world (Walmart) said Renegade.

The one I was using had the same color and shape body, with the brown spray on the eye end, rather than the hook end, There was not a white spray like the picture shows. The one I was using has a 2 strand red tail to it as well.

Please enlighten me as to the proper name of the fly I was using if you know it.

Thank you.

Found it. It was this one. It looks like it is a Prince Bead head Nymph.

[black]That prince nymph or a hare ear nymph are good flies to start with for bobber/fly fishing.[/black]

Another good fly is a dark colored woolly bugger.

My daughter, her husband, and their two children sometimes fish the community ponds, and those are the flies that I usually provide to them.

They have good success, and their kids get a real kick out of catching fish on a fly/bobber rig.
