I haven't fished since I was in boy scouts. I'm 22 now and I live in CT. I live near spring lake in Wallingford, it's a small lake. My younger brother actually talked me into fishing again because he said there were large fish in our lake, but I've never seen them. I went to the local Reservoir this evening and used Rapalas and a rattle trap and a mini king spinner and didn't catch anything. I'd like to catch bass. I had a few bites in the lake using bacon as bait but I didn't catch anything. They took the bacon every time though.

Anyone from CT let me know where you like to fish.

What lures or [blue]live bait[/blue] should I use? What size hook with the live bait? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for joing BFT! Bass are more than likely in prespawn up in ct. So the might be moving into the shallows to fan out some beds. I'd try some zoom flukes and fish them with a 4/0 or 5/0 off set shank worm hook and cast them down the side of the bank. Let it sit then give it a couple jerks and repeat. Youll eventually get a rythem down that works for you. A great place to get some info on what the fish are biting and what their doing would be on the CY board. Check it out and ask the same questions and Im sure some people will be more than willing to help you out. I bet some little bluegill or bullhead are whats taking your bacon. Both are good at that. Downsize your hooks and use a smaller piece of bacon and youll see whos the culprit [Wink]
