It has been a while but my friend and my wife and myself went out fishing over the weekend. Our friend is the master of top water fishing. So my wife and myself attended his class. He gave us this training at his top secret fishing hole. First I learned that you do not have to see boils to catch fish on top water lures. When we arrived at the location we started to cast into water from 3 feet to 30 feet. Then all H&$# broke loose. We started catching fishing fish all ranged from 2lbs to the heaviest about 5.0 lbs. After the class we ended up with about 42 fish total. one of the best classes I have ever attended.[

What the Heck! Thats all the information we are going to get? I agree that a sound education is the key to success, therefore, we want more! We want to be educated too. [

How was the boat ramp? I'm thinking about getting back on the water next week.

[mad] Fishing, Fishing Fishing. I hate fish.
I spent time in college. Lernt about piloting airplanes. Spent 60 years lernin to fish. I hate fish. Fish seem smarter than me is.
I think fish go in school and lern what I look like. They learn to look out for the $27,000 pontoon boat with the driver who spent $53 fur license and another $400 on fishing geer. I hate fish.
I think I go to Laughlin and check out Joes Crab Shack. There, for $15 I get good tasty fish. I put fish in my belly.
Bad luck Steve
Whats worst? Bad luck or no luck ?

What I will say is early in the morning just before sunrise. we casted points with topwater lures like Bill Dance pop r's. we worked them like an injured shad. Twitch and jerk the bait, no steady retrieves. Also we looked for shad activity. We just put the trolling motor down and started down the shore line casting. Once we caught a fish we casted a few more times then moved on down if we did not get any more. Also we stayed out from the shore as far as we could. But still able to cast right to the edge of it. Then when you see shad the fish were right there also. The shad were right on the shore and the fish were about 3 to 5 feet off the shore waiting for the shad. As the sun started to rise higher the fish and shad started to move deeper and we just followed them right along. We caught them up to 30 feet deep. As you all know stripers are always on the move. One weekend we caught alot and the next time at the same place nothing. But they were not to far from the first location. This is also true with bait fishing the fish see to come by in waves. Once they arrive put out the chum and hope they stay to visit for a while. The Ramps are still a joke on the weekends maybe during the week they are better. Good Luck to all.[cool]

Thank you for the tutoring sesson. Perhaps some of us can now successfully pass our exams. Don't know about the rest of the class, but I for one pay attention to the lessons. My only problem is I can't resist going after shad with the net when I spot them!

Nice job on the surface lures.... Launch ramp at Callville was a traffic jam on the weekend. Only 2 launch spots! Over an hour in line to recover the Skeeter on Saturday.
Saw three women disembarking with 3 "24packs" of empty Corona beer - so watch out...
Stepping off a drunk parties boat, tied up at the dock, to board the Skeeter at launch; that was at 10:30 in the morning on Sunday.
Lake Mead marina may be a bit better... The contractors have finished on side of a new concrete pour and about 4 capable people can launch medium sized boats simultaneously.
I am setting up for night fishing near weekends.
And fishing during the week - launching is more civilized. There was a ranger vehicle parked at Lake Mead marina yesterday afternoon - unoccupied. I had to chuckle.
Got marauded by a school of stripers near shore last night while bass fishing.
I like those rebel spitting shads - can they still be found?
