NJDEP Division of Fish and Wildlife and volunteers from Muskies Inc. Chapter 22 rescued trophy size walleye and muskellunge from the Wanaque River below the Greenwood Lake spillway following the major storm in early April. Many of the fish that were electrofished and returned to Greenwood Lake (21 muskellunge and 60 walleyes) would have fallen victim to infection in the next couple of weeks due to lack of food and stress from warm water temperatures. This is another great example of what teamwork between the Division and fishing groups like Muskies Inc. Chapter 22 has been doing for years to make New Jersey's fishing better than it has ever been.

More information and photos are available in a feature article about the rescue on the NJ DFW Web site at http://www.njfishandwildlife.com/artrescue07.htm .
