Well, I spent two days now, casting flies of every kind up and down the creek, but I can't seem to catch fish. I must have put a dozen different flies by a whole pile of feeding carp, some on top, some down low, some right by thier lips.
I cast by white bass, pike, even a catfish I saw hiding under a shallow log near a drainage ditch. I put flies into spots I know hold fish, I couldn't see. I'm even starting to get good at landing the flies exactly where I want them. And I know the fish are bitting..after my arm got tired and I switched to some crank baits, I was catching fish..
Any advice? I'm thinking of going to a sport fishing farm guy this weekend, to catch a few fish that I normaly wouldn't get the chance to without taking a plane...maybe the guy'll be able to give me some pointers.
