[#808000]I am looking at buying a used pair of Cannon UniTrol downriggers from a friend. Normally I wouldn't by that brand but the price is right and for the amount of times I would use them it seems like a good deal. My problem is they do not have any bases so I would also have to by them. [/#808000]
[#808000]I would be putting them on my Crestliner and was wondering if anybody had a reccomendation for a Cannon base for the Crestliner since it has the rounded gunnels. To me it does not look like any base will be that easy to mount.[/#808000]

I'm not sure which mounts would work best, but I'd look at a gimbal mount if I were you. Thats what I use and I really like being able to remove the downriggers and have nothing but a small flush rod holder on my boat. Check ebay for mounts and bases. I've seen a lot of different options on there, and at some good prices too. You might also want to look at cannons website and see all of their options. Cabelas also has some good stuff, and their brand of mounts are quite a bit cheaper than cannon brand mounts (and they work fine). Oh yeah, I have an extra 5" pedestal mount if that is something you think you could use. Let me know.

Thanks bkidder. I was looking at the Low profile Swivel base. But the only problem I can see no matter what kind of mount I go with is how to mount it with the rounded gunnel on the Crestliner. This was a pain when I mounted my electric on the bow. The Gimbal mount might be the way to go though. How big of hole do I have to drill in my precious boat for the rod holder? LOL

No problem. I sent you a PM that should clear things up a bit!
