While looking at my maps of the uintas I noticed the duchesne tunnel, I have drove by it a few times but never took the turnoff for it and I was wondering what it is is it a road through the mountain? or what and if it is a road can you drive through it? I would like to know Thanks.[

I believe that it is a tunnel that diverts water from the Duchesne river into the Provo river. I don't think there is a road but I could be wrong.

I have fished the portion of the Tunnel up in Murdock basin and want extremely impressed, but on the west fork of the duchesne where the tunnel goes through the mountain to current creek, there is a holding pond right there and caught some nice fish, both cutts, rainbows and nice browns. The road isnt too bad to get there. Hope that helps. THat whole area up there is gorgeous!!!

I hunted that area in 1989 for moose, there is a road that goes to the other side of the tunnel. I went down into it once while I was there and you can see all the way to the other side. It looks like a little dot because it is such a log way. You can not drive through the tunnel though. WH2
