I was going to go to UL today but decided to go for some bass at D.C. instead. Didn't get up there early at all, but thought I would still have a couple hours before the wind picked up as it usualy does in the afternoon. Hit the water at 9:45 and dinked around for some trout as I worked my way to the other side of the island. As soon as I got where I wanted to for the bass, the wind picked up. It came in about 10:20. It was still early so I thought it might die down before the afternoon wind came in. So I beached the tube and fished from shore waiting for the white water to go away. I caught several real small bass and blue gill while I waited paitently. But I wanted to get away from shore a little and get something bigger from my tube. Finally I realized it wasn't going to stop, so I packed my tube around to the west and would stop and catch a few more fish as I rested from carrying my tube. By the time I arrived to the opposite side from where I started I had around two dozen small bass and a dozen bluegill under my belt. Then I let the wind blow me across to the main shore while I tried not to drown. Not exactly the day I had planed, but still a fun day.

Here are some pics of my BIG fish. Sorry they are not clear, I forgot to change the settings on my camera for up close shots.

Good to see your posting and pics, O4AF.

Glad you didn't have to fight the wind going back in. That's some pretty mean looking frothy water in the background of your pics.

[cool][#0000ff]Glad you got out but too bad about the wind. That is something I do not appreciate either.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]Your "bluegill" is a green sunfish. Prretty little things.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]We went to Utah Lake (Lincoln Beach) this morning. Dead flat calm all morning. TubeBabe fished for cats while I shot carp with the bow. I got a lot of carp but she did not catch anything. [/#0000ff]

[cool]Those are some sorry looking fish in that first pic labled "tubebabes catch."

[Wink](Tubebabe, did you slap him for that one? You oughta. heh heh.)

I think I see some PVC on and around that bow. Figures that the PVC Jedi Master would incorporate the magical material into his bowfishing as well as tubing. Good to see carp meat being put to good use. Bet if you're a halfway decent shot they're easier to "catch" with the bow than with flies.

[cool][#0000ff]I will post the report I did on the Utah Board. After all, some of us were in tubes, so it is legal.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]First time either of us has been skunked at that location in the past three years.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]When we came in there were some "parched" fish remnants laying on the beach. Couldn't resist. TB watched me take the pic and I told her what I was going to do with it. She's a good sport. She puts up with me.[/#0000ff]

[#0000ff]The PVC line spool on the bow has served me well for a couple of years, but got a loop of line around one of the arms today and popped off when I shot the arrow. No worries. I know the guy who made it and he can make a new one. Here's a pic of the PVC contraption (intact) on one of last year's carpathons.[/#0000ff]

[mad]Since this was the first time in a looooonng time that I have been skunked at that fishing hole, he thought it would be funny to give me credit for it! I guess it was my turn to provide comic relief! Oh, well ...

Thanks for the correct identification on the green sunfish. How about the bass. Are they large mouth or small? I have never caught them that young.

Nice report and pics bro. Thanks for shareing.

As far as that Bass goes, It looks like a very young Smallie. They are cute at any size.[cool]

Mmmmmm...?.... did u shoot them in the tube? How did u do it? Did u add a high chair in your tube?[crazy]

[cool][#0000ff]Small smallies...or "smallettes".[/#0000ff]
[#0000ff][/#0000ff]
[#0000ff]There are still some largemouth in Deer Creek, but not nearly as many as before the smallmouth took over.[/#0000ff]

[cool][#0000ff]Left the tube home. Waded the shallows, stalking them while they were "dating". At that time they roll and splash in very thin water and are usually easy targets.[/#0000ff]
