Since I am planning to fish the west fork of the San Gabriel River this week [for small trout] decided to limber up my 3wt rod. Took my rod out to the back yard grass and proceeded to cast into a good breeze. I cast to what I thought was a small leaf. Well much to my surprise the leaf attacked the bit of yellow yarn at the end of my tippet. I cast to it again and slowly striped the line. It attacked it again. The aggressive leaf turned out to be a lizard. Now if I caught that little dude what category would it fall under?[][/size][/#008000][/font]

Stimulator, Imitator, Intimidator??? If it has scales and swims it is a fish. If it has scales and slithers or crawls, it is not.[cool]

Do you mean to say that I wouldn't have been able to post my catch?[][/size][/green][/font]

A valid catch is a valid catch. I was able to catch a few bats this weekend but they were camera shy.
They had quite a fancy for my Coachmans and Wolfs.[shocked]

Who knows, you may start a new fad amongst the ff world. FF for lizards! How would you explain that to your wife? ""Yes dear, i am going to a lizard tournament"[laugh]

The next fly that I tie will just have yellow yarn decorating an 18. Maybe that Gecko was trying to tell me something. [][/size][/#008000][/font]

Instead of the San Juan Worm, you could make your own and call it the Yorba Linda Worm.[laugh][laugh][laugh]

Hey there tubeN2 I think that name is already taken. Therefore I might call it the Caveman Hare! That is if I use rabbit hair. LOL[/size][/green][/font]

That can't qualify as a catch! If the toyota that I caught on a brigde while steeping casting from below doesn't count, then a lizard can't count.
I call Shenanigans!!

The only thing I ever managed to catch with a fly rod so far was a 3 foot piece of willow tree....Shortly after, I switched to a spincast and a spoon. Caught a 14 foot Lund...
I'm going to try all summer, and I'll catch a fish on the fly, even if I have to scoop it up in a net, and hook it onto the fly before throwing it back [

Hey there ShakeyFly we play by different rules. A Toyota is no different than a log. Well it might get you to your destination a little quicker. But we count only animated objects. You know like birds, possum, snakes etc & an occasional fish. You know when you get home & your better half asks how did you do? Would you rather say that you caught a Chevy or a possum? [][/size][/green][/font]
[signature]
Well, I'd rather tell the story about how I caught a possom, but my better half would rather I brought home the chevy so we could sell it and pay a few bills.

I think you can just take a Mulligan and cast another one out.[cool]
