National Fishing and Boating Week 2007 (NFBW) begins June 2 and runs through June 10. Thousands of organizations all over the country will host events to promote fishing and boating. On Tuesday, June 5, ASA, the American Fly Fishing Association, the International Game Fish Association, the National Marine Manufacturers Association and the Recreational Boating and Fishing Foundation will host a reception on Capitol Hill for their members, Members of Congress and their staff, federal and state agency representatives, non-governmental agency representatives and other guests in the Senate Caucus Room beginning at 6:00 p.m. During the reception, Senator Ted Stevens (R-AK) will be recognized for his decades of service in helping to protect our nation's fisheries and boating resources. Senator Stevens is the senior member of Alaska's congressional delegation, the senior Republican in the U.S. Senate, and the longest-serving Senator in the history of the Republican Party. He serves as Vice Chairman of the Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation. No ASA committees will meet during NFBW 2007.
