Have been trying to land a muskie for some time now from the Pineview shore. So far totally unsuccessfull. I have a veriety of rapalas, and have also tried perch pieces. All to no avail. I was wondering if there is any good areas where people catch muskies from the shore. I usually go to cemetary point, or the day use area at Anderson cove. I have also tried a little inlet on the south side of the dam. So far all without success. Any tips would be greatly apperciated. Thanks in advance.[Wink]

Fishing from shore for muskie is pretty hard and takes time. I have spent most of my muskie fishing days from shore and man I casted so much I thought my arm was going to fall off. I caught three muskies last year from shore in the Anderson cove area. I fished right on the main beach after all of the people had cleared out, the best time was an hour or two before dusk.
Catching muskies from shore requires you to cover a lot of ground and that is the hard part. Most of the time muskie will spend time in the shallow, brush covered water which makes it hard cast to while fishing from shore.
My suggestion would be to just keep working as much area as possible and one of these days you should hook into a tiger. The best thing to do would be to find someone that has a boat.

I once caught the catch and release state record (only held for a couple month's though) from the shore. It's was 43 1/2" and I caught it in the middle inlet area on a modified rapala.

That was cool.[cool]

Fish the shallow water now before they go deep . I had one leap right over my lure today fishing from shore and totally missed my lure . Had the place to myself . Fishing was slow . I only pick up 5 smallies today in 2.5 hours .

Shore fishing is good now when they are in the shallows, but the lack of "open shore" limits where one can fish, and the brush makes it difficult to land one once hooked.

I have had my best results shore fishing in fall. The shallow water is warmer, and warms up faster than the deep water. Sep/Oct/Nov are some of the best days at pineview to walk the shore, look at the scenery, and potentially catch huge Tigers. Don't forget to change lure sizes often...I have had days where as soon as I changed from a J11 to a smaller size, fish on...

[#ff4040]Just keep at it! You'll eventually get one...I've had many occasions, crappie fishing, where muskies would actually try to gobble up my bobber.[/#ff4040]
