So I've been thinking about making my first post here for a while but I finally feel like I had a night worth posting. And I have pictures so that settled it. I read on here that someone (I forget who) who lived down the Provo River was having success below the I-15 and so I took a friend of mine and we checked it out. That night we caught a couple of white bass and 3 walleyes. I was so stoked to find the eyes that I took my wife back there last night to show her. I stopped at a point along the way to say that usually you can see some big brown trout right here in the water. Unfortunately the water was high and murky because of the recent rain and you couldn't see anything. So I told her, "Usually they are right here," and I cast out to show her. And then BANG! I had one of them on! Took me probably 3 full minutes to reel it in but it was a very nice little brown.
Then we got to a spot close to where I'd caught my walleyes and I told her about how my friend Ben had caught a bass here and just as I was saying that she miscast her first cast only four or five feet from shore and promptly caught a really decent sized white bass.
A few casts later I landed a nice little walleye. We spent most of the rest of our night there and Sarah landed two white bass and a walleye (her first) and I landed 6 wallies over all. Brought five of the seven we caught back for eating. They are not huge but they are definitely pan sized.
So here's a pic to help you figure out where exactly on the river we were. Smile

Good to know. The other thing that got me excited was the newspaper article posted a couple days ago that listed the Provo River as the spot where the largest walleye in the state was ever caught. Man I love them eyes!

THE RECORD WAS CAUGHT IN THE PROVO. BUT NO PLACE NEER I15. LOL. IT WAS ABOVE DEER CREEK JUST BELOW THE BRIDGE DURRING THE SPAWN. BUT THAT WAS BEFORE JORDANELLE MESSED UP THE RUN OFF TEMP IN THE RIVER. SINCE THE THE BUILING ONLY A FEW WILL USE THE RIVER NOT THE 1000,S THAT DID.

State record is right below the deer creek dam!

[cool][#0000ff]Wrong. It was in the upper end of Deer Creek, below the Charleston Bridge.[/#0000ff]

How do you know? Ive been told by friends of Jeffery Tanner of this particular location. Walleyes have been known to come through the dam into the river. I was told that his trophy walleye apparently was trying to find its way back into Deer Creek....

[cool][#0000ff]DWR records. But, of course they could be relying on something someone told them.[/#0000ff]

Nice pictures and nice fish. Those eyes are the tatiest little beasts.

I will agree with you on walleye below Deer Creek , because I pulled a 7.5# eye from there back about 1989 . I think the record back then was about 9# . I remember hearing it was caught by the Charleston Bridge area .

back in day alot of bug fish used the river by charlston bridge. roy montoya held the record for some time from right under the bridge. he snagged it with # 13 rapala in the head. but snagged. i fished it about 5 nights a week durring the spawn for abot 10yrs then the temps dropped out. and the fish stayed in the lake. making it alot harder to find them and where they were at. utwalleye and myself fished dc about 40 times each yr back then and only found 1 spot they had been using. i wanst there when the record was caught but i was the night before and after. and so was he fishing for moore eyes him self. he fished the same deep bend all the time. it was kind of hush hush when about it back then.
