hit my new favorite spot at stewarts point right around 4:45am. my friend pulled in two nice sized stripers within 15 minuts, both over 20 inches. a lucky little catfish, and then i scored a great fighting striper around 23-24 inches. left the water around 8:45 as the action moved out to deeper water than us meager shore angles could hit. saw just a small school of shad swim through before sun up, just enough for me to hurry and pull out the net, but they never came back through.

Nice fish did they have any shad in their bellies?

no shad at all, just 4-6 little pieces of anchovie chum i tossed out. always makes me feel better when i see that. a couple times a year we get people on the shore or whatever wondering why we would just throw bait out there for no reason...one day they will figure it out...

Interesting that you point that out....when I fillet fish, I have found a lot of chovies in their bellies. Just goes to show you how greedy they are. They keep eating until I'm eventually able to hook them. I've also found shad and crawfish in their bellies.
