I don't have any first hand info about the .17 but a couple of friends have them and they say it is a very accurate rifle and is very good for rabbits and other small animals. WH2

I have one, not as nice as that (mine is just a regular barrel with black plastic stock), but very accurate. On smaller animals it takes a head shot or you will ruin meat. Shells are at least $8.50 a box (for 50), so mine doesn't get used as much. I like it, but my $99 savage MK II will shoot just about as good out to about 75 yards(dime size and quarter size is still a dead rabbit), and I have never shot any small game past that distance anyway, and the extra $90 (about the difference between the my two) will buy a lot of .22lr.

Check out my post on the Wyoming board "My new toy" it is about my .17 HMR, but mine is a Marlin. Great gun, verry accurate for quite a long ways. Only drawback is that the ammo is not cheap. But with the accuaracy I found I actually use less ammo anyway compared to my old 10-22 so its probably a wash in my opinion.
