Hi there;

I¡¯m new to here, and would like to get some valuable info from you guys.

I live in Pocatello, and have been fishing in McTucker (north), Milner/Wakott(west), deep/devil creek(south), snake river(centre), got couple of trout. But my favorites are those warm water fish like Bass(SM/LM)/crappie/perch, and walleye.

I know there are lots of experienced anglers here, would someone gave me some info on where are the good waters for Bass/crappie/walleye? Hope not too far away from the SE ID region.

I don¡¯t have a boat though, so shoreline fishing only (shame).

Thanks for any input.

I'm on the west side, but I'll say one thing, "Welcome to BFT". Hopefully someone can help you out with some Eastern info. Besure to also read back through some old posts, you might find something of interest.

mbright,
Ditto on the welcome to the forum. I like you already since you are after the correct fish.
Perch would be my favorite also but don't have any good thoughts right now for close fishing. Maybe ice fishing Am. Falls a little later. Right now good perch fishing at Ririe Res. but need a boat and need to know where to go. S.M. bass fishing on Snake is very competitive and boat fishermen have the advantage.
Actually for shore fishing, I don't have any good ideas for you at all. Winder maybe (toward Preston) for perch, bluegill and L.M. bass, but you would have to find a good spot on the bank or develop one. You might want to invest in a float tube to enhance your chances but it will still be limited compared to a boat.

Condie, foster, weston, Twin lake etc. and many other places have good warm water fishing I'd tell you check out the proclamation also. It will tell you all you need to know and the info from here will be a big bonus

A float tube would be a great and relatively inexpensive way to really get into the panfish around SE Idaho.
As noted, Weston, Winder, Deep Creek, Foster, Twin Lakes, Condie Glendale etc are all good for perch, LMB, bluegil and some crappie, and of course trout. Some bank fishing but the tube gets you out where you need to be. Some of these resevoirs (Winder, Weston are 2) don't allow boats.
Actually, Milner and Walcott are pretty good for SMB.

You have already been given some great ideas but I thought I would put in my opinion as well. Shore fishing for LMB would be good at Winder, Condie, Weston, McTucker Ponds and Devil Creek. If you’re willing to wade Twin Lakes would a option. Others like Glendale, Johnson, Lamont and foster have more difficult shore access for bass fishing. You are going to get your feet muddy while fishing from the shoreline and sometimes getting your feet a little wet will allow you to be in a better possition to catch bass. Just make sure that you’re careful when wading in the shallows not to step on any spawning beds.
Walleye are found in Oneida, Salmon Falls Creek Reservoir and Oakley Reservoir. Catch rates are typically low and most walleye will be smaller fish but there are a few nice ones pulled out of Salmon Falls Creek every year.
There are Crappie in Twin Lakes and Glendale with a few showing up in Foster once and a while. There is much better crappie fishing in SW Idaho.
Perch fishing can be good at most of the reservoirs around Preston. A boat or float tube would help though. The Blacktail end of Ririe Reservoir can offer some decent perch fishing from the shore or docks. I use to fish for the perch in the blacktail area a lot in the mid 90's. Last summer the perch fishing wasn't bad when I tried it at Blacktail.
Milner and the Snake River would be my top picks for numbers of Smallmouth in this part of the state. Shore access isn't all that great in most places though.
Keep asking questions and read some of the old reports and you should be able to come up with more ideas of places to fish than you have time to fish.
Good luck.
