Full Version: What would take a Needlefish???

Hello all, Im fishing in northwest Florida, in the Santa Rosa Sound and I was experimenting with about a 3ft needlefish hooked though the back with a 75lb steel leader. When suddenly my rod slammed over and my reel started screaming. The fish made a hard run towards the opposite side of the bay, taking over a 100yds of my 50lb spiderwire and managing to some how break it. [mad]I was using my Penn 706Z and my 8ft Sturgeon Rod. Any ideas to what fish might be capable of doing that??? And how I can prevent that from happening again?
Thanks,

-Ryan

There are a number of fish that could have hit that. 2 of them are the Lemon Shark or the Roller. Both are aggressive and ruthless. There could be a small chance that it could have been a Tiger Shark too. They are all along the coast right now with the warm waters.[cool]
