I took a neighbor, his boy and his boy's friend cat hunting at UL this morning. Neither boy has fished much so we were hoping to get them into some good fish.
We took off from the Lindon marina at about 6 AM and got into a few small channel cats. Fishing was slow so we decided to scoot over to the "Island". We should have started the day there. As soon as we put in we started hammering pretty decent channel cats. We brought 7 home to enjoy tonight, simmered slowly on the BBQ. We released another 8 and lost 3 more at the boat (in about 3 hours). They seemed particularly fond of our shrimp offerings although we caught them on several different things.
The average weight of the cats was 5 lbs. The biggest was 8 lbs and was caught by the youngest kid. In fact, the two kids outfished us. I think we have a couple of addicted converts on our hands. A great day on the lake [
