[font "Times New Roman"][black][size 3]Spent a few days at a family reunion by Bear Lake last week. I spent most of my fishing time on the creeks in the area and had a great time. One morning we got up early and fished Bear Lake for a few hours before all of the water skiers and jet skiers were on the lake. We tried a few different areas but mostly fished the East shore in 70-80 feet of water between cisco beach and the east state park. Found at least a few fish on the depth finder in most areas. Almost all of the fish on the depth finder were within a few feet of the bottom. We tried jigging with a variety of different tube jigs. We also trolled with downriggers, a side planer and flat lines. We never caught any trout out of Bear Lake. Carp were easy to come by though. In the morning we saw a fair number of carp "gulping" a few hundred yards out from cisco beach. It was fun to target them by fly casting an ant pattern to them. We did see one cutthroat on the surface but he spooked before we could cast a fly to him.
Here are a few pictures of us fishing the creeks. We forgot to take a camera with use when we when we fished Bear Lake. This picture shows me with a cutthroat. It was fun watching the cuts move toward the surface and take my fly.
Here is a picture of my brother with a cut.
This is a picture of my brother just after he cast his fly into the head of a hole on one of the many creeks we fished.
This picture shows my brother with a beautiful brook trout. We caught several nice brook trout like this in the 10”-11” range.
