Has anybody heard anything recently about the ponds? Does anybody know if any pond is better then another?

Good to see you're still around.

I haven't fished the Sand Creek Ponds for a few years but I'll pass along what little information I know. I've done best at ponds #1 & #3 and Blue Creek Reseroir. Keep in mind this was a few years go. As far as I know any of the ponds could be good. Look for fish feeding on surface. These ponds are one of those still waters you can catch fish on dry flies on a regular basis. I fished them on a cloudy/rainy day one time and found many fish working the surface. Mostly planted fish but there are a few wild fish and carry overs. The F&G also limit access to certain areas to protect nesting swans. I'm not sure if nesting swans have closed off any areas this year but keep an eye open for signs that state where access is not allowed. As you may already know the F&G planted "banana trout" in these ponds to see how successfull over winter survival was.

Good luck.

Thanks for the info Brian, I heard from a friend that he was catching 24 and 25 inch trout out of there pretty regularly but I dont know how credible that info is. Thanks again

I've never caught a 24"+ fish from the Sand Creek Ponds but I'm sure there are a few rainbows in there that large. Your friend might be exaggerating the size of the fish some but for all I know he may also be telling the truth. I would just tell him to take you there and show you some of those big ones he is catching. Even if they are only 19" & 20" fish it would still be a fun trip, especially if you can get a few to take dry flies.
