Hello all, from sunny and very HOT California, we hit 113 the other day and since then its been in the tripple digits every day (at work). But when I head to the hills in the afternoon is almost always another story.

I live in Bear Valley Springs now, just west of Tehachapi, Ca. (http://www.bvsa.org/) and when I begin the climb the temps drop about 10-20 degrees from the Palmdale/Lancaster area. 114 in Palmdale it was only 104 in BVS, still a smoker but we had a nice breeze and the margaritas were going down very nicely to cool the insides off.

Well Sunday 7/8/07 we saw the elk in the valley for the first time this year. I wish I had my camera, because this bull was huge and a "freak" someone will want him very bad, the right side of his rack he is strutting "2 main beems" and one on the left, we're talking monster bull easily 10 points, plus the extra main beam. And he is so huge he makes the little black tail bucks here look like puppy dogs. He 's been back up on the mountain the past couple days but he comes in at night and stays in the trees right behind one of my friends house & horse corrals. Next t I see them I'm pulling out the video camera and its telephoto lense I can pull snap shots off the video. As soon as I can I'll post what I saw. I've seen some big boys in Utah, but never a freak like this!

Hope you all are having fun and enjoying the fishing, boy I miss Utah fishing.

Hey David, how you been? We had some one on the site asking about the fishing down your way a few days ago.I gave him your user name, did he contact you? I'm not sure if you can help him, since it sounds like you have moved but here is a link to the thread. Sounds like a very nice bull, sure would like to see it. Did you know you can post video on BFT now? Good to hear from you.

Oceanside may be easier to get on a private charter, but San Diego is close to the better fishing and quicker, but its harder to find a boat and more expensive.

Hello Pat!

Since house hunting and horses rule my world right now fishing is on the bottom of the list of things I have time for right now. BUT, house hunting may have come to an end. We're planning on putting in a offer by this weekend, after we have a contractor look it over. Its just what we need for Dakota's horses, flat 1+ acres, and a decent sized house almost 1800 sqft on 1 level, and that is what I wanted (no stairs, yeah), it need a little work, but carpet and paint do wonders. Once that is done then I can think about fishing. I did take Dakota to our storage unit and she got all excited when she saw her flytying kit, but since the house we are renting is so small I convinced her to leave it there for now.

[cool][#0000ff]Keep on keepin' on. I am sure that it is frustrating and tedious, but once everything falls into place, the fishing will be a great reward. It WILL happen.[/#0000ff]
